Most auto air conditioners have five major components: the refrigerant carries the heat; the compressor draws in the refrigerant, compresses it and moves it along; the condenser expels heat (like a car radiator); the expansion valve is a nozzle that regulates refrigerant flow, and the drier/evaporator cools the car by blowing hot interior air across the refrigerant.
Tune-ups should be typically done about once a year, a tune-up is regularly scheduled preventive maintenance on a vehicle. The procedures vary by the vehicle's make, model, age and mileage, but a tune-up typically involves replacing the air filter; running computer diagnostics; and checking the condition of (and possibly replacing) the fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, and other basic engine parts.
Oil Change & Lube
Changing oil in a car is very important. A car's motor oil needs to be changed at regularly scheduled intervals set by the manufacturer. Changing oil regularly is an essential part of basic car maintenance. Few manufacturers use the 3,000-mile/three-month standard interval of old, so be sure to check the manufacturer's recommendations. Also the oil can be changed every 5,000 miles.
Brake pads can last tens of thousands of miles but they wear down over time and should be inspected and replaced when needed. Brake rotors/discs (the part the pads rub against to stop the vehicle) may last through two or three sets of pads before needing to be replaced; slightly scratched rotors can sometimes be resurfaced (shaving off enough metal to make them smooth again).
