Responsibilities

  • Diagnose driveability, electrical, engine, transmission and emissions concerns accurately the first time
  • Perform complex repairs including engine, transmission, cooling, suspension and advanced electrical work
  • Interpret scan data, wiring diagrams, service bulletins and OEM repair procedures
  • Document findings, testing performed and recommended repairs clearly for the service advisor and customer
  • Road test and verify every repair before the vehicle is returned
  • Support and mentor B-level technicians and apprentices
  • Keep your bay, equipment and shop-provided tools clean and accounted for

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of professional automotive repair experience
  • Proven diagnostic ability on modern electronic systems
  • ASE certifications preferred, Master certification is a strong plus

Frequently asked questions

ASE certification is preferred for technician roles but it is not a hard requirement. If your hands-on skills are strong, we will help you work toward certification and assist with training costs.

Technicians are expected to have their own set of personal hand tools. Beach Auto & Transmission Repair provides scan tools, alignment and specialty equipment, lifts and shop consumables.

It is required for the inspector position and a strong plus for any technician role. If you are eligible but not yet licensed, tell us on your application and we can discuss helping you get licensed.

Master and A-level roles generally call for five or more years of professional experience. B-level roles start around two years. Service advisor experience in an automotive setting is preferred.

Signing or relocation assistance may be available for select positions and experience levels. Bring it up during your initial conversation and we will be straight with you about what is possible.

Yes. All currently open positions are full-time, in person, at our Virginia Beach Boulevard location. We are closed Sundays.

Technician compensation depends on skill level, certifications and experience, with bonus opportunities on top. Final compensation is discussed openly during the interview process.
